Why didn’t you post a link to the LDS Emergency Response fund? In my opinion it is even more efficient than the Red Cross at getting relief to those who need it:

Carl, my concern is with getting funds to the people on the front line right now, while the need is greatest. The Red Cross fits that bill somewhat better than the LDS fund. However, either would be a good choice.

Thanks for the link. Is the LDS fund a first responder in this, are they going through another agency (one of the Catholic funds, for instance), or are they going to do their own longer-term stuff in the region?
